Dubai's Vision for Tourism: 2026 Roadmap Launched

Dubai's Vision for Tourism: 2026 Roadmap Launched

Post by : Badri Ariffin

On June 3, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) convened its bi-annual City Briefing at Dubai Opera, assembling over 1,700 leaders across tourism, aviation, hospitality, retail, and events sectors, alongside government officials and media figures.

This record turnout underscored the event's aim to fortify collaboration between public and private sectors, reassess Dubai's reaction to recent regional dynamics, and delineate critical strategies for driving tourism and economic growth throughout the latter half of 2026.

His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of DET, emphasized Dubai’s dedication to enhancing the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which seeks to bolster the emirate’s stature as a preeminent global business and tourism hub.

His Excellency Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), remarked on how Dubai’s tourism industry continues to thrive due to robust public-private partnerships, diverse markets, and an adaptive operating framework that fosters stability and growth amidst changing regional conditions.

Officials presented proactive measures taken to safeguard Dubai's visitor economy amid recent regional issues. These actions included activating contingency plans, closely coordinating with Emirates and flydubai to preserve travel connectivity, and providing timely guidance to tourism operators, as well as ensuring transparent communication with global markets.

In support of the tourism, hospitality, and entertainment sectors, the Dubai Government launched a significant AED 2.5 billion support initiative. This package offers financial aid to eligible businesses, streamlines licensing procedures, and implements strategies to safeguard jobs while upholding service quality across the industry.

Entering 2026, Dubai is in a strong position, having set records for international visitor numbers in 2025, coupled with a 6.4% GDP growth in Q4 2025 and receiving 95.2 million passengers at Dubai International Airport.

Industry representatives noted the collaborative efforts that businesses across the tourism sector demonstrated during recent months, with hotels offering flexible booking options and restaurants promoting campaigns to stimulate consumer spending.

Programs such as "Dubai, A Fine Way to Dine" and "Dubai Restaurant Week" were instrumental in supporting the city's food and beverage landscape, drawing residents and visitors to diverse dining opportunities.

Looking forward, DET unveiled an exciting lineup of events for the remainder of 2026. Among them, the return of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) in July will feature retail discounts, entertainment options, family attractions, and dining promotions, including the Great Dubai Summer Sale and Summer Restaurant Week.

Additionally, the city will host the 10th Dubai Fitness Challenge from October 31 to November 29, further establishing its growing reputation as a global wellness and lifestyle tourism destination.

Dubai continues to make substantial investments in infrastructure projects to support sustainable growth. The newly sanctioned Gold Line Metro will establish a 42-kilometer underground link across 15 districts, while the Blue Line remains on track for completion by 2029.

Furthermore, the US$35 billion expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport is advancing, with aspirations of transforming it into the largest aviation hub in the world.

The City Briefing concluded with a shared commitment from government and industry leaders to sustain growth, enhance competitiveness, and further solidify Dubai’s status as a leading global destination for tourism, business, innovation, and investment.
