Dubai, UAE – December 2025: In a remarkable achievement, Dubai Health has successfully completed 234 kidney transplant surgeries since the inception of its kidney transplant initiative in 2016, boasting an impressive success rate exceeding 95 percent. This accomplishment highlights the effectiveness of collaboration across various sectors in enhancing vital healthcare services.
The transplant program thrives on partnerships with a myriad of stakeholders, such as the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Healthcare City Authority, Dubai Airports, and several other public and private entities. This initiative aligns with the national Hayat Program for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissue, significantly improving access to essential treatments.
Since its launch, the program has successfully facilitated transplants for patients from diverse backgrounds, with children making up 31.2% of the recipients. Of the total procedures, 120 were accomplished at Dubai Health hospitals, 90 at Mediclinic City Hospital, and 24 at Al Qassimi Hospital. The contributions from both living and deceased donors emphasize the growing community awareness around organ donation.
His Excellency Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health and President of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), stated:
"These accomplishments illustrate a unified approach to organ transplantation and reflect our dedication to offering specialized care. Our leadership prioritizes health, fortifying Dubai's standing in medical excellence."
Dubai Health guarantees a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach throughout the transplant journey, from preliminary assessments and surgical operations to structured long-term follow-ups, ensuring the highest standards of healthcare quality.
In supporting patients, the Al Jalila Foundation promotes initiatives such as ‘Your Donation Saves Lives’, which fosters organ donation and aids in treatment funding. This program has helped cover costs for 66 patients (31.4% of all transplant cases). Furthermore, the ‘A’awen’ program provides crucial care for individuals unable to access or afford specialized treatments, reinforcing Dubai Health’s commitment to healthcare equity.
Dubai Health continues to deliver specialized kidney care services at institutions like Dubai Hospital, Al Jalila Children’s Hospital, Al Twar Dialysis Center, and Al Barsha Dialysis Center, ensuring that patients benefit from top-tier medical care.
