CMU-Q Celebrates Record Admissions at Marhaba Tartans Gathering

CMU-Q Celebrates Record Admissions at Marhaba Tartans Gathering

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), affiliated with Qatar Foundation, recently held its annual Marhaba Tartans event, a gathering aimed at welcoming newly admitted students and providing them insights about the university ahead of their final enrollment decisions.

This cycle witnessed unprecedented admissions for CMU-Q, attracting over 3,000 applicants. To accommodate the heightened interest, the university has expanded its first-year class size to 140, reflecting a 20% increase from the 2025 admissions.

At the event, Dean Michael Trick addressed the new cohort, celebrating their accomplishments. He remarked, “Class of 2030, you are part of an exclusive group, and I extend my heartfelt congratulations to each of you for your admission to Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. You've demonstrated hard work, curiosity, and creativity throughout high school. Well done!”

CMU-Q offers five undergraduate degree programs: artificial intelligence, biological sciences, business administration, computer science, and information systems. Students at the Qatar campus adhere to the same admission criteria as their counterparts at Carnegie Mellon’s main campus in Pittsburgh, ensuring they meet identical degree requirements. All degrees are conferred by Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

The Marhaba Tartans event serves as an excellent platform for admitted students to engage with the academic atmosphere at CMU-Q, interact with faculty and fellow students, and gain a clearer understanding of the programs before making enrollment choices.
