Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan has announced Resolution No. 28 of 2026, paving the way for the establishment of a Commercial Mediation Centre under the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This initiative is designed to bolster the emirate's commercial dispute resolution capabilities, aligning with the needs of its expanding business landscape.
Issuing this resolution in his role as the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, Sheikh Mansour emphasized the significance of supporting local enterprises.
The centre will function within the administrative and financial framework of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, all while being overseen by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department. Its headquarters will be located at the chamber's main site in Abu Dhabi, with potential plans for further branches throughout the emirate to enhance service accessibility.
This newly founded centre is set to create a systematic and contemporary approach to commercial dispute mediation, enabling faster, amicable resolutions in contrast to the traditional court processes.
Moreover, the centre aims to promote mediation as a preferred method for alternative dispute resolution, ensuring governance, fairness, and integrity in the way commercial disputes are managed, employing neutral and flexible procedures.
As outlined in the resolution, the centre will facilitate disputes through court-referred mediation, consensual agreements, and diverse alternative dispute resolution techniques. Mediation services will be available for both national and international business disputes, adhering to UAE laws and the mutually agreed procedures of all parties involved.
Agreements achieved via the mediation centre will be subject to approval from a supervising judge. Once validated, these agreements will be recognized with the legal power equivalent to an executory instrument under the UAE Federal Civil Procedures Law.
This initiative is anticipated to enhance Abu Dhabi's reputation as a premier destination for business and investment, providing companies with more effective and quick resolutions to commercial disputes.
