In a strategic move to enhance healthcare, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) and the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, have launched the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Healthcare Research and Innovation Fund. They are now welcoming submissions from researchers, healthcare professionals, and innovators across the emirate.
Focused on advancing healthcare, this fund edition gives priority to projects that drive precision medicine, improve early disease detection, and enable data-driven clinical decisions. Research areas of interest include precision medicine, omics diagnostics, cell and gene therapies, cancer treatment innovations, and more.
Evaluation of proposals will be based on scientific merit, practical application, potential for collaboration, and alignment with Abu Dhabi’s health priorities.
Her Excellency Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH Abu Dhabi, remarked, “The initiation of the 2026 Healthcare Research and Innovation Fund underlines our commitment to nurturing a collaborative and innovative scientific landscape. Our goal is to back research that propels clinical advancements and enhances community health outcomes.”
His Excellency Abdullah Humaid Al Ameri, Director General of Ma’an, pointed out the partnership's significance in meeting health and social needs. “Ma’an is dedicated to empowering researchers and innovators, ensuring their work benefits future generations and positively influences our community,” he stated.
The fund aims to support research with substantial translational potential and significant clinical implications in Abu Dhabi's healthcare landscape, further establishing the emirate as a global leader in life sciences and research.
In the previous funding cycle for 2024-2025, over 150 applications were received from healthcare providers and research institutions, resulting in funding awarded to 12 impactful projects addressing various health challenges.
Stakeholders interested in this opportunity are encouraged to access the DoH website to review the application process and submit proposals through the designated portal.
