Under impressive leadership, the United Arab Emirates celebrated its 54th Eid Al Etihad, showcasing a year filled with significant strides and global acknowledgement. The Year of Community in 2025 saw the nation solidifying its stature as both a regional and international power while achieving various social, technological, and humanitarian feats.
A Trailblazing Year in Space Endeavors
In 2025, the UAE's aspirations in space hit new heights. The nation successfully launched six satellites, including Thuraya 4, MBZ-SAT, AlainSat-1, HCT-SAT 1, and the advanced phases of the Foresight constellation and Etihad-SAT. Moreover, the Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt (EMA) reached a pivotal design stage, affirming the country’s long-standing commitment to interplanetary exploration.
Collaborating with ICEYE, Space 42 deployed three SAR satellites—Foresight-3, Foresight-4, and Foresight-5—into low Earth orbit. Furthermore, the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre successfully completed the Rashid 2 rover for its Emirates Lunar Mission, reinforcing the UAE’s stature as a leader in regional space innovation.
Championing Emirati Women and Community Growth
The year also signified empowerment for Emirati women. The UAE led the region and secured the 13th position globally in the UNDP’s Gender Inequality Index. Three Emirati women were nominated for the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders Council 2025, illustrating the nation's dedication to nurturing talent and leadership.
The introduction of the Mother of the Nation’s 50:50 Vision unveiled essential initiatives targeting family welfare, governance, and global partnerships, showcasing the UAE’s commitment to inclusive progress and social stability.
Advancements in Housing and Urban Development
The UAE made significant strides in family stability through extensive housing programs. The Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme approved 2,971 housing projects worth AED2.07 billion, unveiling new financial assistance for senior citizens.
Abu Dhabi announced ambitious plans for 13 new residential communities, aiming to provide over 40,000 homes and plots for Emirati citizens, involving a total investment of AED106 billion. Meanwhile, Dubai launched housing projects valued at AED5.4 billion, including a package of over 1,100 residential units costing AED2 billion. Additionally, Sharjah facilitated 3,500 plots aimed at residential and investment needs, ensuring accessibility to housing for all.
Strengthened Global Influence and Humanitarian Role
On the global stage, the UAE established itself as a significant economic hub and a leader in humanitarian efforts. Through strategic partnerships and international initiatives, the nation’s influence continues to rise, reflecting a forward-thinking vision for sustainable development and diplomacy.
The 54th Eid Al Etihad not only commemorated national unity but also underscored the UAE’s accomplishments in the arenas of space exploration, social empowerment, housing, and global leadership, setting a foundation for a future characterized by innovation, stability, and advancement.
