BUTTERWORTH – Two people tragically died after their car crashed and caught fire along Jalan Permatang Baru, Sungai Lokan early this morning.
According to Penang Fire and Rescue Department director Shoki Hamzah, firefighters discovered two charred bodies at the scene. The identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed.
The department received an emergency call at 7:09 am and dispatched seven firefighters along with a fire engine from the Butterworth fire station. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle was around 80% destroyed by the fire.
The bodies were subsequently sent to Kepala Batas Hospital for post-mortem examination. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers of road accidents and the importance of fire safety measures in vehicles.
