Dubai, Sep 29: Tilak Varma played a masterful innings to lead India to a thrilling five-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The 22-year-old remained unbeaten on 69 runs off 53 balls, including a decisive six off Haris Rauf in the 20th over, securing India’s win in the last moments of the match.
Varma, in partnership with Shivam Dube, added 60 crucial runs from just 40 balls, turning the game in India’s favour. His calm and composed performance earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award, a recognition fans widely celebrated on social media. Cricket enthusiasts praised Varma for delivering under pressure, with posts hailing him as the hero of the final.
Earlier in the match, Indian supporters had pinned their hopes on Varma to steady the innings, and he lived up to expectations. The duo’s efforts proved vital after India lost early wickets, ensuring the team chased down Pakistan’s target successfully.
In celebration of the unbeaten campaign, the BCCI announced a prize money of ₹21 crore for the India cricket team and support staff. “It was an extraordinary victory, and the award recognises the team’s hard work and dedication throughout the tournament,” BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said.
Fans in Dubai and across the world rejoiced at the historic win, marking another memorable chapter in India-Pakistan cricket rivalry.
