Thailand Launches ‘Move Together’ Fitness Drive

Thailand Launches ‘Move Together’ Fitness Drive

Post by : Shakul

Thailand has taken a major step toward improving public health by launching a nationwide fitness campaign aimed at encouraging people of all ages to stay active. The initiative focuses on creating awareness about the importance of regular exercise and building a culture of healthy living across the country. The campaign reflects the government’s long-term vision to improve the quality of life for its citizens.

The campaign was officially launched on April 29, 2026, at Phra Pholbodee Plaza, located within the National Stadium in Bangkok. The opening ceremony was led by Natthariya Thaweewong, who highlighted the importance of physical activity in everyday life. The event brought together senior officials, sports leaders, and representatives from various organizations.

The program, titled “Move Together: Healthy Nationwide,” is organized by the Department of Physical Education under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. It is part of a broader effort to support national development through sports and health promotion. The campaign also aligns with the royal policy of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, which emphasizes the role of sports in strengthening society.

One of the main highlights of the event was the introduction of line dance as the primary activity. This form of exercise was selected because it is simple, enjoyable, and suitable for people of all age groups. It does not require heavy physical effort, making it accessible to beginners as well as older individuals who want to stay active without strain.

The event saw participation from more than one thousand people who gathered at the venue, while many others joined virtually from all seventy-six provinces across Thailand. This widespread participation showed strong public interest and demonstrated how such initiatives can connect communities through shared activities.

Officials explained that the campaign aims to reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases by encouraging regular exercise. Health experts believe that consistent physical activity can help prevent conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. By promoting fitness at a national level, the government hopes to reduce healthcare costs and improve overall well-being.

The Department of Physical Education has already built a strong foundation for this campaign by developing a network of sports volunteers and community-based exercise clubs. More than seven hundred trained volunteers and over two thousand six hundred local clubs are working to expand the reach of fitness programs across the country.

To further boost public participation, a nationwide line dance competition has also been announced. The competition is open to individuals aged twenty-five and above, offering participants the opportunity to compete for a royal trophy and cash prizes. The final event is scheduled to take place at a major indoor sports venue in Bangkok.

This campaign represents a significant effort by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports to turn health policies into real action. By encouraging people to exercise regularly and making fitness activities more accessible, Thailand is taking an important step toward building a healthier and more active society for the future.
