Two young women from Telangana tragically lost their lives in a road accident in California late Saturday evening, according to local police reports. The victims have been identified as 25-year-old Pullakhandam Meghana Rani, a resident of Garla mandal, and 24-year-old Kadiyala Bhavana from Mulkanoor village, both located in the Mahabubabad district of Telangana. The two had been residing in the United States for nearly three years, pursuing their Master’s degrees.
Both Meghana and Bhavana were in the final stages of their academic programs and were actively looking for job placements in their respective fields. Their journey in the US was marked by dedication and ambition, as they sought to build successful careers abroad. The two women had moved abroad with hopes of gaining advanced education and better opportunities to fulfill their dreams.
The tragic accident occurred while Meghana and Bhavana were traveling with a group of friends near the scenic Alabama Hills in California. According to preliminary reports, their vehicle lost control while navigating a particularly difficult stretch of road. The car reportedly veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge, resulting in fatal injuries for both women.
Known among their peers and community as bright, hardworking, and ambitious students, Meghana and Bhavana’s untimely demise has come as a huge shock to their families and the Telangana community. Their families are currently grappling with immense grief and sorrow over the loss of their loved ones so far from home.
In the wake of this tragedy, the families have made an emotional and urgent appeal to the Telangana government and the Ministry of External Affairs for assistance. They are seeking immediate help in coordinating with the Indian Consulate in San Francisco to expedite all necessary formalities related to the accident. Their foremost concern is to ensure that the mortal remains of Meghana and Bhavana are repatriated to India as quickly as possible so that the families can perform the final rites according to their customs and traditions.
Meanwhile, local authorities in California are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. The investigation aims to clarify the circumstances that led to the loss of control of the vehicle and prevent similar accidents in the future.
During this difficult period, the Telugu diaspora in the United States has extended its support to the grieving families. Community members have come forward to offer emotional and logistical assistance to help the families navigate the complex process of dealing with the aftermath of the accident abroad.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a solemn reminder of the unpredictability of life, especially for students and young professionals living far from home. The loss of Meghana and Bhavana is deeply mourned by all who knew them, and their memories will remain cherished as their families seek justice and closure.
