Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Advanced Military Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul Centre (AMMROC) has entered a significant new phase in regional defense collaboration by formalizing three strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Egypt's Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI).
These agreements, signed at the UAE National Pavilion during the fourth iteration of the International Defence Exhibition (EDEX 2025) in Cairo, are geared towards enhancing joint industrial and technical capabilities in the realms of aircraft maintenance, engine support, and helicopter systems. The signing ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Dr. Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement, and Mahmood Alhay Alhameli, Group CEO of Abu Dhabi Aviation.
Enhancing Aircraft MRO and Production
The first MoU aims to improve collaboration between AMMROC and AOI’s Aircraft Factory, focusing on the production, development, marketing, and supply of components for various aircraft types including fixed-wing, jet, and unmanned aerial systems. This partnership is set to synchronize production lines with AMMROC’s ongoing programs, establish dedicated manufacturing cells, and enforce strict inspection and testing standards. Additionally, knowledge transfer and technical training will be pivotal in this collaboration.
Integrating Engine Support with Digital Manufacturing
The second MoU involves AOI’s Engine Factory and Digital Manufacturing Center, concentrating on advanced engine maintenance and supply chain integration. This agreement encompasses the manufacturing of vital engine components, conducting heat and surface treatments, and prolonging the operational lifespan of parts through precision engineering. Digital manufacturing technologies will also be harnessed to enhance production efficiency and quality assurance.
Improving Helicopter Capabilities
AMMROC’s final MoU with Helwan Factory for Advanced Industries focuses on helicopter system maintenance and upgrade programs. This agreement includes component servicing, structural modifications, modernization efforts, and the development of specialized workshops to bolster regional defense operations. Furthermore, joint training and knowledge-transfer initiatives are included to bolster local expertise.
Demonstrating Regional Capabilities at EDEX 2025
During EDEX 2025, AMMROC showcased its MRO capabilities by presenting models of the F-16 and C-130 aircraft, alongside discussions with partners to seek future collaborative opportunities. The MoUs signify AMMROC’s strategic vision to enhance fleet readiness, cultivate advanced industrial skills, and broaden both regional and international partnerships.
