Jannik Sinner Triumphs Over Clement Tabur in French Open Debut

Jannik Sinner Triumphs Over Clement Tabur in French Open Debut

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Renowned as the top seed, Jannik Sinner initiated his journey at the French Open with an impressive straight-set win against home player Clement Tabur on Tuesday.

Sinner secured a decisive 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 victory at Roland Garros, smoothly advancing to the second round. Competing during the night session on Court Philippe-Chatrier, Sinner showcased his skill with aggressive baseline shots and consistent offensive pressure.

The 24-year-old Italian aimed for his first French Open title, demonstrating complete dominance from the match's outset. He quickly broke Tabur’s serve to establish a 2-0 lead, followed by another break to extend his advantage to 4-1. The first set concluded with a commanding forehand winner from Sinner.

The second set mirrored the first, with Sinner maintaining exceptional pace and precision. Tabur found it challenging to cope with Sinner’s relentless attacks, leading to a comfortable two-set lead for the Italian.

In the final set, Tabur exhibited greater confidence, making several bold shots that earned cheers from the local crowd. Although the 171st-ranked player briefly pushed Sinner, who regained dominance with his powerful rallies and accurate hitting.

Ultimately, Sinner wrapped up the match in straight sets, continuing his impressive performance this season. He entered Roland Garros on an extraordinary 29-match winning streak, having lost just three sets in that span. Earlier, he also secured every Masters 1000 title.

Post-match, Sinner expressed gratitude to the fans, acknowledging their support during a match against a French rival.

“It’s wonderful to be back here, surrounded by fantastic memories. First-round matches can be tough,” Sinner noted.

“Thank you for turning out, supporting me, and being fair. I realize I was up against a Frenchman.”
