Saudi Arabia Announces Over SAR 3 Billion Ramadan Aid for Social Security Beneficiaries

Saudi Arabia Announces Over SAR 3 Billion Ramadan Aid for Social Security Beneficiaries

Post by : Shakul

As the holy month of Ramadan gains momentum, Saudi Arabia has announced a major financial aid programme to support social security beneficiaries during the period of fasting and increased household expenses. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has directed the disbursement of more than SAR 3 billion in assistance, reflecting the leadership’s efforts to ease financial burdens on families during Ramadan.

Under this royal directive, households eligible through the national social security system will receive direct financial support, with fixed amounts allocated for each head of household and dependent. The payments are expected to be credited directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts, ensuring timely distribution ahead of key religious observances and community gatherings.

The initiative was made on the recommendation of Mohammed bin Salman, who also holds the position of prime minister, highlighting the government’s focus on social welfare and inclusive support during the fasting month. Officials have praised the gesture, noting its positive impact on low‑income families and its alignment with community traditions of charity and care during Ramadan.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, prayer, reflection, and increased acts of generosity toward others. The Saudi initiative not only provides financial relief but also reinforces cultural and religious values by encouraging collective wellbeing and solidarity during the holy period.

Analysts say such support measures can help mitigate the higher cost of living often experienced during Ramadan, when household expenditures rise due to increased food purchases and charitable obligations. By offering direct aid to eligible families, the Saudi leadership aims to strengthen economic stability and social cohesion in communities across the kingdom.
