Rostec, Russia’s leading state corporation for defence and technology, took centre stage at the Dubai Airshow 2025, presenting a wide range of advanced military and aerospace innovations. This global event has proven to be a key platform where Russia showcases its latest technologies to international partners and potential buyers, strengthening its presence in the Middle Eastern defence market.
Among the highlights was the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jet, known for its stealth and combat effectiveness, which performed live flight demonstrations. This aircraft has already proven its capabilities in real combat scenarios, emphasizing its reliability and advanced design. Alongside the Su-57, Rostec displayed new versions of the Yak-130 jet trainer, the Ansat multipurpose helicopter equipped with Russian VK-650 engines, and other advanced systems.
The Ka-52 attack helicopter also impressed audiences with its agility and combat-tested performance during aerial displays. Other important exhibits included the upgraded Il-76 heavy transport aircraft, Ka-32 firefighting helicopter, and the modernised Pantsir-SMD-E air defence system designed to tackle UAV threats with enhanced missile capacity.
Rostec’s display wasn’t limited to aircraft. It featured models from major Russian defence companies like United Aircraft Corporation, United Engine Corporation, Russian Helicopters, and KRET. These products cover a broad range of defence needs, including armoured vehicles, anti-tank weapons, UAVs, and advanced training simulators.
The Middle East remains a critical market for Russian defence exports, accounting for almost half of Rosoboronexport’s contracts. Customers in the region value Russian technology for its proven battlefield performance, high reliability, and lack of vulnerabilities such as remote shutdown capabilities. This trust is further reinforced by Rostec’s commitment to local partnerships, technology transfer, and joint production projects in the region.
With over 30,000 contracts signed globally and a current order portfolio at an all-time high, Russia continues to solidify its position as a leading arms exporter. The Dubai Airshow 2025 served as a powerful reminder of Russia’s technological advancements and strategic focus on fostering strong ties with key international defence partners.
