In a remarkable achievement, Dubai International Airport (DXB) registered a record 24.2 million passengers during the third quarter of 2025, making it the busiest three-month period in its 65-year history. This figure signifies a 1.9% increase compared to the same quarter last year, underscoring Dubai's status as an attractive global aviation and tourism destination.
Over the first nine months of 2025, passenger numbers soared to 70.1 million, reflecting a 2.1% rise, while total traffic over the last twelve months reached an astounding 93.8 million guests. Aircraft movements remained robust, with 115,000 flights in Q3 alone and a total of 336,000 flights recorded between January and September, marking a year-on-year rise of 2.7%. Additionally, the average number of passengers per flight stood at 213, denoting the airport's operational efficiency.
Enhancements for Travelers
To accommodate the surging traffic, Dubai Airports has unveiled several upgrades across its terminals. Terminal 3 now boasts new zones such as CB Central, CB East, and CB West, featuring upscale shopping, diverse dining options, entertainment, and family-focused amenities. Terminal 1's CD Central area provides sweeping views of the airfield, modern waiting areas, and convenient access to key retail outlets, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable travel experience.
Future of Dubai World Central
Dubai Airports is simultaneously working on transforming Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) into the city’s primary international hub, anticipated to be ready by the early 2030s. DWC is set to embrace smart technologies and sustainability to enhance passenger experiences and global connectivity.
Primary Markets and Destinations
India emerged as DXB’s leading source market in the first nine months, with 8.8 million travelers, followed by Saudi Arabia (5.5M), the UK (4.6M), Pakistan (3.2M), and the USA (2.4M). Among the most popular destinations, London topped the chart with 2.8 million passengers, trailed by Riyadh (2.3M), Mumbai (1.8M), Jeddah (1.7M), and New Delhi (1.6M). Leisure travel saw significant demand towards Malaysia, Vietnam, Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, and Denmark.
Operational Excellence
DXB demonstrated exceptional operational performance, as it managed 63.8 million bags in the first nine months, a notable 6.2% increase from the previous year, with 90% of bags delivered within 45 minutes. The rate of mishandled baggage remained impressively low at 0.1%. Passenger processing was highly efficient, with 99.6% passing through passport control in under 10 minutes and security screening completed in less than 5 minutes for nearly all travelers.
The impressive passenger growth seen by Dubai International Airport in Q3 2025 further solidifies its role as a key aviation hub and highlights Dubai’s increasing prominence as a global center for tourism, trade, and investment, paving the way for a dynamic future in travel.
