On Thursday evening, the Phoenix Suns showcased their might by defeating the struggling Indiana Pacers 133-98 at home. This victory marks the Suns' fifth consecutive win, and they now boast a strong 6-1 record at home this season.
Devin Booker emerged as the standout performer, contributing 33 points, including an impressive 16 points in the third quarter. His efforts propelled the Suns to a significant lead, allowing them to seize control of the game.
Another key player for Phoenix was Dillon Brooks, who netted 32 points, with an impressive 24 scored in the first half, allowing the team to establish an early advantage. His spirited play infused the Suns with confidence and supported their aggressive tempo right from the start.
Oso Ighodaro had a remarkable outing, scoring a career-best 17 points while also collecting seven rebounds, alongside three steals and three blocks. Meanwhile, Grayson Allen added 12 points before leaving the game due to an injury in the second quarter.
Allen, currently leading the NBA in three-pointers made this season, sustained a right quad contusion following a collision with Pacers center Jay Huff, which forced him to exit. His status will be monitored closely, considering his pivotal role in the Suns' offense.
The Pacers faced yet another challenging night, with Andrew Nembhard leading their scoring with 21 points and eight assists. Pascal Siakam contributed 19 points and five rebounds, while Tony Bradley added 10.
In a further setback, Aaron Nesmith left the game due to left knee soreness after stepping on a teammate’s foot, having scored 10 points before leaving the court.
Indiana was already without key players Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles), Bennedict Mathurin (toe), and Obi Toppin (foot), making it difficult for them to find consistent scoring and defensive performance.
The Pacers have now faced six consecutive losses, with their last three defeats occurring by significant margins: 31 points, 24 points, and now 35 points against the Suns. The team's injury woes and limited depth are becoming increasingly concerning.
Phoenix enjoyed a 70-52 lead at halftime and took full control late in the third quarter, going on a substantial 38-8 run into the early fourth quarter. They scored the first 20 points of the final quarter, extending their lead to 126-84 thanks to a three-pointer from Jordan Goodwin.
With an impressive shooting percentage of 57.6 from the field and 13 successful three-point attempts out of 35, the Suns outperformed the Pacers, who could only manage 36.4 percent from the field. Brooks shot 12-for-18, Booker went 12-for-22, Ighodaro was 7-for-9, and Allen hit five of his six attempts.
The game featured several intense moments, including double technical fouls for Brooks and T.J. McConnell in the first quarter due to excessive talking. Siakam and Royce O'Neale also received double technicals following a heated altercation. Additionally, Tony Bradley was called for a flagrant foul after grabbing Brooks around the neck during a rebounding tussle.
