Marco Rubio visited the iconic Taj Mahal during his official trip to India and described the monument as a “true treasure of the world.” Rubio arrived at the historic site along with his wife Jeanette Rubio and spent nearly one and a half hours exploring one of India’s most famous cultural landmarks.
During the visit, Rubio wrote a special message in the visitors’ book expressing admiration for the monument. He thanked Indian authorities for allowing him to experience what he called one of the world’s greatest treasures. The visit also included US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, who accompanied the American delegation throughout the tour.
The Taj Mahal continues to remain a major attraction for global leaders and international dignitaries visiting India. Built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of Mumtaz Mahal, the white marble monument is considered one of the finest examples of Mughal architecture and attracts millions of tourists every year.
Rubio’s visit comes during his four-day diplomatic trip to India. Earlier, he visited the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata before holding important meetings with Indian leaders in New Delhi. He met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and later held delegation-level talks with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
The visit is taking place ahead of the important Quad Summit scheduled in India. Leaders and foreign ministers from India, the United States, Australia, and Japan are expected to discuss Indo-Pacific security, regional cooperation, and growing geopolitical challenges in Asia and West Asia.
The Taj Mahal has previously welcomed many world leaders including former US President Donald Trump, who visited the monument with former First Lady Melania Trump during his earlier visit to India. Trump had then praised the monument as a timeless symbol of India’s rich culture and heritage.
Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, the Taj Mahal remains one of the most admired monuments in the world. Rubio’s appreciation of the monument once again highlighted India’s cultural importance and its growing role in global diplomacy and international relations.
