In a recent interview, Tamil television actress Manya Anand bravely discussed her troubling experiences within the film industry, alleging that Dhanush’s manager, Sreyas, attempted to exploit her through the notorious casting couch. She revealed that Sreyas reached out to her about a film project but soon made an inappropriate overture.
Manya recalled Sreyas's words suggesting a quid pro quo arrangement: “There is commitment (adjustment),” indicating that she would need to offer something beyond mere professional engagement to gain consideration for the role. Defiantly, Manya responded, “What commitment? Why should I give commitment?” She made it unequivocally clear that she would reject any unethical proposals.
Even after her refusal, Manya alleged that Sreyas continued to pursue her, questioning, “You will not comply even if it’s Dhanush sir?” He also sent her location details for Dhanush’s production house, Wunderbar Films, along with the script for the project. Manya clarified that she had no intention of engaging with the script or the film.
She emphasized the need to address these predatory practices, commenting, “We’re artists. We are doing some other work. You take work from us but don’t expect something else in return. If we comply with your demands, then we’d be named something else. I think it’d be better if people recognised this pattern and sorted it out.”
Adding to the seriousness of her claims, she noted that another manager had approached her with a similar inappropriate proposition related to the same project, illustrating a concerning trend in the industry. Manya asserted that performers must not be coerced into compromising situations masked as professional opportunities.
