Karisma Kapoor’s Lawyer Flags Errors in Sunjay Kapoor’s Will

Karisma Kapoor’s Lawyer Flags Errors in Sunjay Kapoor’s Will

Post by : Rameen Ariff

In the ongoing legal battle over late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s estate, Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, have raised serious concerns about the authenticity of their father’s will. Their lawyer claimed that the document contains multiple errors, suggesting it may have been forged to exclude them from the inheritance.

During Monday’s Delhi High Court hearing, senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Samaira (20) and Kiaan (15), argued that the will is “riddled with glaring blunders” and appears fabricated. According to the lawyer, Sunjay Kapur would never have misspelled his children’s names or listed incorrect addresses, pointing out that the daughter’s address in the will refers to Karisma Kapoor’s office rather than her personal residence.

Jethmalani emphasized that the will also lacks detailed information about key assets, including jewellery and cryptocurrency holdings. “This does not resemble a will that Sunjay prepared or approved. It appears to benefit only one person, which raises doubts about its legitimacy,” he said.

Sunjay Kapur, chairman of Sona Comstar, passed away in June 2025 in London due to a heart attack while playing polo. He was married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016 and had two children, Samaira and Kiaan. Sunjay married Priya Sachdev in 2017, who is now being challenged by his children in court over the alleged forgery of the will.

Priya Sachdev sought permission to submit her late husband’s asset details in a sealed cover to the court. While the Delhi High Court initially questioned whether confidential submission was appropriate, it later allowed Priya to submit the details privately, with copies provided to Samaira and Kiaan’s legal team.

The next court hearing in this high-profile inheritance dispute is scheduled for Tuesday, keeping the focus on the authenticity of Sunjay Kapur’s will and the legal rights of his children.
