Rishab Shetty’s “Kantara: Chapter 1” is achieving huge success at the box office, quickly approaching the ₹300 crore mark. The film was released in cinemas worldwide on October 2, with special premiere shows on October 1, and has attracted large audiences with its strong storyline and memorable performances. In just the first weekend, “Kantara: Chapter 1” collected over ₹235 crore worldwide. The opening day saw a remarkable ₹88 crore in gross earnings. Even though collections dropped slightly to ₹65 crore on the second day, the film bounced back with a 25% rise, earning ₹82 crore on the third day.
According to reports from Sacnilk, the movie made ₹61.5 crore nett (after taxes) on Sunday. The total Indian box office collection (nett) for the first four days is ₹232.75 crore, with the daily breakdown as follows: Day 1 – ₹61.85 crore, Day 2 – ₹54.4 crore, Day 3 – ₹55 crore, Day 4 – ₹61.5 crore. Adding gross earnings (before taxes), the film is on the verge of crossing ₹300 crore in just four days.
With this record, “Kantara: Chapter 1” has surpassed “KGF: Chapter 1” and is now the third highest-grossing Kannada movie ever, with only the original “Kantara” (₹408 crore) and “KGF: Chapter 2” (₹1,215 crore) ahead. The film is written, directed, and led by Rishab Shetty, and features Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah in key roles. The phenomenal box office run reflects the great popularity of Kannada films both in India and abroad: “Kantara: Chapter 1” is setting new records and raising the bar for Kannada cinema.
