The highly anticipated ‘Jumanji 3’ has commenced filming, heralding the return of a beloved action-adventure franchise. The production team celebrated this milestone by releasing an on-set photo showcasing Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black in their character outfits, accompanied by the caption, “Look who’s on the loose,” igniting fan excitement.
Kevin Hart took to social media to share the image, voicing his passion for the series and suggesting that this upcoming sequel will be their most ambitious effort yet.
Following the triumph of ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ (2017) and ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ (2019), this unnamed third installment continues the adventure. Both previous films successfully introduced the timeless 1995 narrative to modern audiences and were tremendous box-office successes. Jake Kasdan returns as director and co-writer, collaborating with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. The film is set for a theatrical release on December 11, 2026.
Dwayne Johnson, a day prior to filming, shared behind-the-scenes clips from Universal Studios, delighting fans with a surprise appearance on set. He expressed the special feeling of returning to Los Angeles for the shoot after a lengthy hiatus.
Johnson also shared a touching detail regarding his character's new accessory: a necklace featuring the original dice from the 1995 Jumanji film, paying homage to Robin Williams and acknowledging the franchise's legacy as they embark on what he termed “our very last Jumanji.”
The ensemble cast includes Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Lamorne Morris, and Danny DeVito. In a recent table read video, Johnson remarked that the reunion led to endless laughter among the team.
Both contemporary Jumanji films have enjoyed remarkable box-office performance, with ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ earning over $950 million, while ‘The Next Level’ grossed more than $801 million worldwide. With filming now in progress and the full cast assembled, audiences can anticipate yet another thrilling, emotional, and high-energy journey when Jumanji 3 debuts in theaters in 2026.
