In a concerning event near Chennai, an Indian Air Force (IAF) Pilatus PC-7 Mk II crashed during a routine training missions in the Tambaram area of Chengalpattu district. Eyewitness videos shared on social media depicted debris scattered at the crash site, drawing considerable local interest.
The IAF confirmed the pilot's successful ejection, avoiding injuries. Authorities also reported no civilian casualties or property damage associated with the incident. The aircraft encountered difficulties at around 2:25 PM local time while undertaking a standard training sortie.
In response to the crash, the IAF swiftly established a Court of Inquiry to ascertain the incident's cause. This investigation aims to identify contributing factors and implement necessary measures to prevent future occurrences.
Eyewitnesses noted significant debris scattered across a broad area, with emergency response teams arriving promptly to secure the location. The pilot's quick decision to eject is garnering praise, reflecting high levels of training and professionalism.
