Giorgio Armani Final Collection Debuts as Tribute in Milan

Giorgio Armani Final Collection Debuts as Tribute in Milan

Post by : Rameen Ariff

Milan: Italian fashion house Giorgio Armani presented the final collection personally crafted by its late founder, Giorgio Armani, at the Brera Art Museum in Milan. Armani, known as “King Giorgio,” passed away earlier this month at the age of 91.

Originally planned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the brand, the show became a heartfelt tribute to the legendary designer. Celebrities including Richard Gere and Cate Blanchett attended the event, which was held in the cloister of the Brera museum, beautifully decorated with lanterns.

Models walked the runway under the porticoes in fluid, lightweight outfits, accompanied by live piano music from Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi. The collection, titled Pantelleria, Milan, showcased a palette ranging from grey to deep blue and dark green, inspired by places close to Armani’s heart.

“This collection, the last Giorgio Armani personally worked on, stands as a testament to his style and marks the close of one chapter so a new one may begin,” the brand said in a statement.

The show ended with a solo walk by Agnese Zogla, one of Armani’s favorite models, in a stunning blue gown. Armani’s niece Silvana and his life and business partner Leo Dell’Orco, who lead the women’s and men’s collections, greeted the audience and received a standing ovation.

Director Spike Lee said, “I’m humbled to return to Milan to celebrate his excellence,” while Cate Blanchett added, “Apart from being an incredible designer, he was a humanitarian and philanthropist.”

The collection concluded Milan Fashion Week, as the fashion world now looks ahead to Paris for the next series of shows.
