Sharjah — The 54th Eid Al Etihad (Union Day) festivities have kicked off in Sharjah, bringing vibrancy to the newly opened Al Layyah Canal. Running from November 26 to December 2, the celebrations invite both residents and tourists to immerse themselves in a lively cultural environment from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM each day.
This year marks the inaugural transformation of Al Layyah Canal into a festive landmark, offering a delightful mix of culture, entertainment, and family activities. An energetic patriotic atmosphere prevails as traditional Emirati performances take the spotlight, featuring folk groups like Al Razfa and Al Ayalah, who showcase rhythmic displays reflective of local heritage. The opening also included touching anecdotes from long-standing residents sharing their experiences from the formation of the UAE.
Throughout the week, attendees can engage with a variety of interactive shows designed to encourage participation. Local youth initiatives and family businesses showcase innovative products that celebrate Emirati identity. A prominent performance titled “Sultan of Sharjah” by the Al-Shaer Band enriched the evening, complemented by a striking light show illuminating the canal.
To ensure families have an enriching experience, dedicated areas for children have been created, featuring play zones and creative workshops. These activities promote artistic expression through drawing and crafts, intertwining fun with learning. The spacious design of the canal allows easy movement and provides generous spaces for cultural displays, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all.
Beyond mere entertainment, the celebrations aim to foster a deeper sense of national pride and belonging among both locals and visitors. By blending traditional elements with modern recreational activities, Al Layyah Canal is establishing itself as a nexus for cultural appreciation and community connection.
These week-long festivities are enhancing Sharjah’s reputation as a cultural and tourist hotspot. With daily performances and engaging activities, Al Layyah Canal stands out as a premier destination for the 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations, making a lasting impression on attendees.
