On Wednesday night, the Anaheim Ducks secured a 4-3 victory against the Boston Bruins in a dramatic NHL showdown. The decisive goal was netted by defenseman Ian Moore with just 3:35 remaining in the third period. Goalie Lukas Dostal was instrumental in the win, making an impressive 36 saves throughout the game.
The Bruins fought hard, recovering from deficits of 2-0 and 3-1 to level the score at 3-3. Morgan Geekie, who scored twice, tied the game at 7:39 in the third period with his second goal. Nevertheless, Moore found the back of the net following a pass from Leo Carlsson, placing a slap shot that slipped past Bruins goalie Joonas Korpisalo, putting the Ducks ahead.
Alongside Moore, the Ducks saw contributions from Jansen Harkins, Radko Gudas, and Ryan Strome. Mason McTavish also made his mark with two assists. This win was crucial for Anaheim, marking their second consecutive victory after a three-game losing streak and adding to their home winning streak, now at six games.
Dostal, boasting a 10-5-1 record this season, first shined by denying 17 shots in the opening period. For the Bruins, Geekie's two goals were complemented by Michael Eyssimont's contribution, while Hampus Lindholm recorded two assists and Korpisalo made 29 saves. Despite a higher shot count (39-33) and scoring two power-play goals, Boston couldn’t maintain the momentum. Anaheim managed to convert one of their three power-play opportunities.
The Ducks took an early lead in the first period, with Harkins scoring a rebound just 2:29 into the game, courtesy of Nikita Nesterenko’s shot and a setup from Russ Johnston. Just four minutes later, Gudas extended the lead to 2-0 with a deflected blue-line shot. Boston answered back during a power play, where Geekie tipped Lindholm’s shot to bring the score to 2-1 by the end of the opening frame. Meanwhile, Dostal made a vital save on a 2-on-0 break by Nikita Zadorov in the final minute of the first.
As the second period commenced, the Bruins sought to find an equalizer, but Strome's power-play goal at 13:47 solidified Anaheim's 3-1 advantage. Dostal's key saves continued, including one against Fraser Minten near the end. Eyssimont scored with 1:33 left in the second, closing the gap to 3-2 as the teams entered the final act.
In the third, Boston quickly leveled the match again at 3-3, with Geekie netting a tip-in just eight seconds into a power play from David Pastrnak’s shot. Both teams had opportunities to score, but Dostal and Korpisalo kept the game intense with crucial saves. Ultimately, Moore’s timely goal sealed the thrilling 4-3 win for the Ducks.
With solid performances underscored by remarkable goaltending and strategic goals, the Ducks secured their second win in a row, while the Bruins faced their third loss in four games.
