In a dramatic exchange on Bigg Boss 19, singer Amaal Mallik and actor Gaurav Khanna delved into the contentious issue of nepotism in the entertainment world. What began as a civil conversation quickly turned heated, particularly after Amaal marked his father’s career as a 'failure.'
Initiation of the Debate
Gaurav Khanna opened the discussion by pointing out that individuals with familial ties in the industry often find it easier to secure roles compared to outsiders. He emphasized how the initial opportunity tends to favor those well-connected.
“Jahan tumhara struggle shuru hota hai, wahaan hamara aspiration hai,” he stated, highlighting the disparity in starting opportunities.
Amaal Mallik rebutted, arguing that his family’s path mirrored that of any regular individual seeking to make it in showbiz. He recalled moments when his mother and brother waited outside Mehboob Studio, asserting there was no unique advantage.
Contestant Malti Chahar chimed in, proposing that while everyone’s struggles differ, they shouldn't be directly compared. Gaurav clarified that he admired Amaal’s efforts, but was specifically commenting on access privileges.
Amaal’s Provocative Remarks About His Father
The conversation took a shocking turn when Amaal made a controversial remark about his father, composer Daboo Malik.
Amaal remarked:
“Mere papa ko kabhi Anu Malik ka support mila hi nahi. Hum reverse nepotism ke product hain. Daboo Malik was a failure, and I have no problem in admitting it.”
This admission stirred significant reaction both inside and outside the house. Amaal contended that his father had no backing from his brother, stating that he and his sibling Armaan had to forge their paths independently. Gaurav countered, noting that industry connections do facilitate interactions with prominent figures like Salman Khan.
Public Backlash Against Amaal Mallik
Following the episode, social media erupted with criticism directed at Amaal for his harsh label on his father, with many deeming it disrespectful to air such sentiments on a public platform.
Comments labeled his actions as “disrespectful” and “superficial,” suggesting he was employing emotional leverage. Some viewers also pointed to previous instances of heated arguments as evidence of a pattern in his behavior.
One viewer stated, “Amaal insulted his own father just to win an argument. That was very disrespectful.”
Another added, “Amaal Mallik showed no shame, but I felt ashamed hearing that.”
The incident sparked broader conversations about family respect and personal boundaries in reality TV discussions.
Amaal Mallik’s Journey in Music
Amaal Mallik made his entry into the Hindi film industry in 2014 with compositions for Jai Ho. Although not a significant hit, he later garnered acclaim through projects like Roy, Airlift, Ek Paheli Leela, All Is Well, and Hero, establishing himself as a renowned composer recognized for his melodious creations.
Recently, the show saw an unexpected eviction as contestant Mridul Tiwari was voted out after receiving the fewest live audience votes, following prior eliminations of Abhishek Bajaj and Neelam Giri.
