Baahubali: The Epic, the remastered and re-edited version of SS Rajamouli’s iconic films, has taken Indian cinema by storm with its historic re-release. Combining the two blockbuster films from 2015 and 2017 into a 3-hour, 45-minute cinematic spectacle, Baahubali: The Epic is drawing massive audiences both domestically and internationally.
The excitement began with advance bookings, which surpassed ₹6 crore in India and overseas by Thursday, setting a new record for a re-released Indian film. Trade analysts predict the film could earn ₹10–12 crore net in India on its opening day and potentially over ₹20–25 crore gross worldwide. These numbers indicate that Baahubali: The Epic could outperform even some of the top Telugu releases of 2025, including Mirai and Thandel.
Industry experts say the film is poised to break multiple records on its first day. It is expected to become the best-opening re-release in Indian cinema history, surpassing the ₹5.1 crore net record of Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh. Globally, it may also break the ₹8 crore record held by Ghilli, and in Telugu cinema, it is set to exceed Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja, which earned ₹11 crore in its second run. If positive word of mouth continues, the film could even cross the ₹100 crore mark.
The Baahubali franchise, made on a combined budget of ₹500 crore, was already a global phenomenon, grossing over ₹2,400 crore worldwide. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion held the record for India’s highest-grossing film until Dangal overtook it. The franchise stars Prabhas in the lead role, alongside Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Sathyaraj in pivotal roles.
With its re-release, Baahubali: The Epic not only brings back the grandeur and scale of the original films but also introduces a new generation of audiences to one of India’s most celebrated cinematic sagas. Audiences are flocking to theaters, eager to witness the epic battles, unforgettable performances, and stunning visuals that made Baahubali a cultural phenomenon.
The record-breaking performance of Baahubali: The Epic reinforces the enduring popularity of the franchise and sets a new benchmark for re-releases in Indian cinema, proving that great storytelling and visual spectacle can continue to captivate audiences years after the original release.
