Kim Kardashian’s jump into scripted drama with All’s Fair has met steep critical resistance since its November 4 debut on the streaming service, with reviewers largely unmoved by the series’ first episodes.
Co-created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken, the show follows a group of women divorce attorneys launching a practice in Los Angeles. Despite a notable ensemble that includes Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Niecy Nash, Naomi Watts and Teyana Taylor, the series has struggled to win over critics.
Early reviews have been terse: the series sits at just 6% on Rotten Tomatoes from 18 professional critiques, reflecting widespread disappointment. Several commentators argued the show leans on spectacle over substance and suggested Murphy’s signature irreverence has become harsher than clever. Criticism has also focused on Kardashian’s acting, described by some as flat and emotionally limited, while other reviews faulted the scripts for lacking depth and authenticity.
Audience reaction on social platforms has largely mirrored the press, with many viewers questioning character development and the overall tone. Messages ranged from blunt dissatisfaction with the writing to pointed critiques of the lead’s delivery. Still, a subset of viewers embraced the series’ ostentatious vibe, calling it stylish, campy entertainment and praising the star-studded cast for sheer spectacle.
All’s Fair represents Kardashian’s second collaboration with Murphy after her role in American Horror Story Season 12: Delicate, underscoring the growing trend of reality TV figures transitioning into scripted roles under established showrunners.
While the production’s designer wardrobes and high-profile names may attract curious audiences, critics say the programme falls short where it matters most: coherent storytelling, convincing character work and consistent performances.
Whether viewers will accept All’s Fair as glossy, guilty-pleasure viewing or abandon it for its creative shortcomings remains to be decided as the series progresses.
