Yunnan, China – A tragic train accident in southwest China has left 11 railway workers dead and two others injured, authorities confirmed on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the early morning at Kunming’s Luoyang Town station in Yunnan province. The train involved was conducting seismic equipment testing when it collided with construction workers who had entered the track area. According to the local railway authorities, the train was “passing normally through a curve inside the station” when the crash happened.
Emergency services quickly responded, and the injured workers were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Transportation in the area returned to normal by midday.
Officials said the cause of the accident is still under investigation. Industrial accidents like this are relatively common in China due to unclear regulations and lax safety standards.
Authorities have urged safety compliance to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
