Celebrating Yuvraj Singh's 43rd: A Look Back at His Legendary Six-Sixes

Celebrating Yuvraj Singh's 43rd: A Look Back at His Legendary Six-Sixes

Post by : Meena Ariff

As Yuvraj Singh celebrated his 43rd birthday on Friday, cricket enthusiasts reminisced about one of the sport's most iconic moments—his astonishing six sixes in an over during the 2007 T20 World Cup. The former Indian all-rounder, whose career spanned from 2000 to 2019, played a total of 398 matches and amassed over 11,000 runs, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of match-winning performances.

Yuvraj's crowning achievement took place on September 19, 2007, at Kingsmead, when he unleashed a phenomenal display of power hitting against England's Stuart Broad. He blasted six consecutive sixes to reach his half-century in merely 12 balls—a record that endures in T20 cricket. His explosive innings propelled India to a daunting total of 218, ultimately aiding in an 18-run victory.

India clinched the first-ever T20 World Cup, with Yuvraj playing a pivotal role throughout the tournament. His influence didn’t stop there; he excelled in the 2011 ODI World Cup, delivering an exceptional all-round performance, accruing 362 runs, taking 15 wickets, earning four Man of the Match accolades, and being crowned the Player of the Tournament.

Over the course of 304 ODIs, 58 T20Is, and 40 Test matches, he established himself as a game-changing player known for his aggressive batting, sharp fielding, and timely wickets. Even after his retirement, Yuvraj remains a lasting symbol of resilience, charisma, and high-pressure performance in Indian cricket.
