The death toll from the two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela last month has increased to 4,561, according to National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez.

Speaking on Monday, Rodriguez said 16,740 people were injured in the disaster. Rescue, relief, and recovery efforts are continuing as authorities work to support thousands of affected families across the country.

Thousands of Families Receive Emergency Assistance

Rodriguez said government authorities have provided assistance to 128,324 families since the earthquakes struck.

Emergency officials have also established 107 temporary camps, where 20,231 people are currently staying. In addition, 17,907 people still do not have a permanent place to live and remain in need of long-term housing solutions.

Hundreds of Buildings Damaged

The earthquakes caused widespread destruction to buildings and infrastructure across the affected areas.

According to Rodriguez, a total of 856 buildings were damaged, including 190 structures that completely collapsed, highlighting the scale of the devastation caused by the disaster.
