14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Honoured with Prestigious National Award

14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Honoured with Prestigious National Award

Post by : Meena Ariff

At just 14 years old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has emerged as a shining star in Indian cricket, demonstrating that exceptional talent knows no age boundaries. Hailing from Bihar, this young batting sensation has captivated the nation with his extraordinary performances and has now been honoured with one of India’s highest civilian awards for children — the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP).

The award ceremony was held in New Delhi, where Vaibhav was felicitated by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. This recognition marks a significant milestone in the young cricketer’s promising journey. Vaibhav had arrived in the capital earlier this week to attend the prestigious event and proudly received the award in the presence of dignitaries.

Post-ceremony, Vaibhav, along with other award recipients, will meet the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. This special interaction is intended to motivate and encourage young achievers to continue striving for excellence in their chosen fields.

While receiving this national honour is a moment of pride, it also meant that Vaibhav will miss the remaining matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. For a dedicated athlete, time away from the field can be challenging, but such an esteemed recognition is an invaluable accolade that few receive at such a young age.

Vaibhav’s cricketing feats have already made headlines. In Bihar’s opening match against Arunachal Pradesh, he delivered a stunning performance by scoring a record-breaking 190 runs off just 84 balls. This extraordinary innings showcased his powerful stroke play and confirmed his place among the most exciting young talents in the domestic circuit.

From humble beginnings on local cricket grounds in Bihar to standing on the national stage at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Vaibhav’s journey is a beacon of hope and inspiration for aspiring athletes throughout India. As he embraces the responsibilities and expectations that come with his rising fame, this award symbolizes both a reward for his dedication and a springboard toward a future filled with remarkable achievements in international cricket.
