Chandigarh, India — January 28, 2026:
Early on Wednesday, at least nine private schools in northern India were targeted with bomb threat emails, resulting in the swift evacuation of students and faculty.
Reports indicate that these threats were sent around 8:00 a.m. local time, affecting various schools in both Chandigarh and Gurugram. Law enforcement and bomb detection units promptly arrived on the scenes to conduct thorough safety checks.
Schools in Chandigarh that received the threatening messages include Saint Kabir Public School, Ryan International School, Vivek High School, Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Chitkara International School, and Bhavan Vidyalaya. Additionally, four schools in Gurugram were also recipients of similar threats.
Students and staff were instructed to leave the buildings as a precautionary measure. Investigations are actively ongoing to identify the origin of the emails, with enhanced security patrols established in the area.
Thus far, no explosives or concerning items have been discovered; however, authorities are treating the situation with utmost seriousness for the safety of everyone involved.
