UP Farmer Uses Bear Costume To Save Crops

UP Farmer Uses Bear Costume To Save Crops

Post by : Shakul

A unique and unusual method adopted by a farmer in Uttar Pradesh has gone viral after he was seen wearing a bear costume to protect his crops from monkeys. The incident was reported from Firozpur village in Sambhal district, where monkeys have been causing severe damage to farmlands.

The farmer, identified as Dharambir, said that large groups of monkeys regularly destroy potato and strawberry crops. To tackle the issue, he and a few others started wearing bear costumes to scare them away, a method that has shown some success.

Video Goes Viral Online

A video of the farmer walking through fields in the costume quickly went viral on social media, gaining lakhs of views. Many users reacted with surprise at the innovative yet unusual solution, while others highlighted the seriousness of the monkey menace in rural areas.

According to Dharambir, there are over 100 monkeys in the area, and the problem occurs daily. He added that although the costume helps temporarily, a permanent solution is still needed.

Authorities Respond to the Issue

Local forest officials acknowledged the situation, with Forest Ranger Manoj Kumar stating that the department is aware of the issue. He said that while such methods may work briefly, they are not long-term solutions.

The Forest Department is now considering steps to capture and relocate the monkeys to nearby forest areas, although officials noted that such operations require proper planning and approvals.

Growing Human-Wildlife Conflict

Incidents like these highlight the increasing human-wildlife conflict in several parts of India, where animals often enter farmlands in search of food. Farmers have been demanding effective measures from authorities to protect their crops and livelihoods.

While Dharambir’s creative approach has brought temporary relief, experts stress the need for sustainable and humane solutions to address the issue permanently.
