Ukraine Prepared to Discuss US Peace Proposal to Resolve Conflict

Ukraine Prepared to Discuss US Peace Proposal to Resolve Conflict

Post by : Rameen Ariff

On Thursday, November 20, 2025, Ukraine declared its readiness to engage in dialogue regarding a draft peace proposal from the United States intended to conclude the ongoing conflict with Russia. This announcement was made by President Volodymyr Zelensky’s office in Kyiv, showcasing Ukraine’s commitment to diplomatic solutions.

Zelensky’s office stated that the Ukrainian government has officially received the draft plan, which the US believes could bolster diplomatic endeavors. “The President has been formally presented with a draft from the American side, which is perceived as potentially energizing for diplomacy,” the statement read.

Details of the proposal have not been fully revealed; however, inside sources suggest that some points resemble Russia’s stringent conditions. This may include scenarios where Ukraine might have to relinquish certain territories and restrict the size of its military. Nevertheless, Ukraine highlighted its intent to engage constructively with the US and international allies to ensure that any peace accord is just and preserves Ukraine’s dignity.

Following discussions in Kyiv with US military leaders, Zelensky's office confirmed an agreement to thoroughly assess the plan and collaborate on its elements. “We agreed to refine the components of the plan to secure a dignified resolution to the conflict,” the statement indicated. Ukraine conveyed its openness to work alongside the US, Europe, and other global partners to establish a sustainable peace solution.

In the near future, President Zelensky is anticipated to speak with former US President Donald Trump to delve deeper into the proposal. Ukraine’s willingness to negotiate illustrates its aim to align diplomatic efforts with national security needs, while firmly rejecting agreements that may undermine its sovereignty.

This moment signifies a crucial step in the pursuit of conflict resolution, emphasizing the United States' role as a mediator and Ukraine’s resolve to find a peaceful solution without conceding to unreasonable demands.
