Abu Dhabi: The UAE Bulls celebrated a historic first Abu Dhabi T10 title at Zayed Cricket Stadium, driven by Australian powerhouse Tim David, who dominated the Aspin Stallions' bowling with a breathtaking 98 runs. His innings included 12 towering sixes and three boundaries, leading the Bulls to an impressive 80-run victory.
The Bulls started with Phil Salt (18 off 8) and James Vince, though Vince had to retire injured without scoring. Salt gave an early boost, but it was the explosive performance from David that truly stole the show, boasting a striking strike rate of 326.66. Together with Rovman Powell (24 off 20), they formed a formidable 128-run partnership, propelling the team to a formidable 150/1 in their allotted 10 overs.
The Stallions faced numerous challenges in their innings. They suffered early blows, with Andre Fletcher (2 off 3) forced to retire and Sherfane Rutherford dismissed for a duck by Fazalhaq Farooqi (1/2). Even though skipper Rahmanullah Gurbaz managed to score 18 off 15, the team struggled to maintain momentum, finishing at 70/4. Key contributions from Junaid Siddique (1/18), Iftikhar Ahmed (1/7), and Qais Ahmad (1/14) ensured the Bulls maintained a firm grip on the match.
Tim David's extraordinary season culminated in him amassing 393 runs over nine innings, averaging 65.50 with a strike rate exceeding 263. His outstanding performance earned him both the Batter and Player of the Tournament awards. Andrew Tye from Vista Riders took home the Bowler of the Tournament, while Junaid Siddique was recognized as the UAE Player of the Tournament for consistent excellence.
This significant victory marks a milestone for the UAE Bulls, establishing their position in the Abu Dhabi T10 league and setting a new standard for exceptional power-hitting. Fans and analysts regard David's performance as one of the greatest in the tournament's history, highlighting the thrilling evolution of short-format cricket in the region.
