Strengthening Defence Ties: UAE and Armenia Engage During Dubai Airshow 2025

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, had a fruitful meeting with Suren Papikyan, Armenia’s Defence Minister, at the ongoing Dubai Airshow, happening at Dubai World Central until November 21.

Sheikh Hamdan expressed his welcome to the Armenian delegation and emphasized the robust relationship between the UAE and Armenia. He pointed out the mutual aspiration to enhance cooperation in defence, technology, and future industries, noting that stability is crucial for sustainable economic development and long-term advancement.

During their discussions, Minister Papikyan expressed Armenia's gratitude for the UAE's support and reaffirmed the nation's commitment to expanding their growing ties in economics, culture, and technology. He highlighted how the Dubai Airshow serves as an exceptional platform for defence leaders and aerospace experts to share insights and explore new avenues of collaboration.

Their conversation also covered advancements in both conventional and modern defence capabilities, the adoption of state-of-the-art systems, and enhancements to training programmes ensuring personnel are equipped to operate advanced technologies. Both officials shared perspectives on regional and global issues, with a focus on actions aimed at fostering peace and stability.

In attendance were notable UAE officials such as Mohamed bin Mubarak bin Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs; Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications; and Major General Khalifa Rashid Al Hamli, Director of the Office of the Minister of Defence.
