Turkmenistan hosted a grand cultural concert as part of the 27th Opera Days of the International Organization of Turkic Culture, widely known as TURKSOY. The prestigious event took place at the Palace of Mukams of the State Cultural Center in Ashgabat and brought together renowned opera artists from Turkmenistan, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
The concert highlighted the growing cultural cooperation among Turkic-speaking nations and reflected Turkmenistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international cultural diplomacy. Officials stated that the programme demonstrated the country’s commitment to promoting peace, friendship and mutual understanding through art and cultural exchange.
The event was held under the broader cultural policies supported by Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Authorities emphasized that Turkmenistan continues to expand cooperation with foreign countries and international organizations, especially in the fields of culture and humanitarian exchange. The government views cultural diplomacy as an important tool for building trust and unity among nations.
The opening performance featured the musical work “Türkmenistan bagy-bossan” composed by Veli Mukhadov and performed by the State Symphony Orchestra and the State Choir of Turkmenistan. The composition celebrated the natural beauty, prosperity and cultural richness of Turkmenistan and received strong appreciation from the audience attending the ceremony.
Throughout the evening, opera singers and musicians performed famous pieces from both Turkic and international classical traditions. Audiences enjoyed excerpts from national operas performed in Turkmen, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Azerbaijani, Kazakh and Turkish languages, showcasing the diverse artistic heritage of the Turkic world.
The concert also included globally recognised opera masterpieces such as “Romeo and Juliet,” “Carmen,” “Faust,” “Il Trovatore,” “Pagliacci” and “Andrea Chénier.” These performances were presented in Italian, French, German and Spanish, reflecting the international spirit of the event and the connection between Turkic culture and world classical music traditions.
Cultural experts noted that the programme served as an important symbol of unity among Turkic-speaking nations. The gathering demonstrated how music and performing arts can strengthen international friendships while preserving historical and spiritual ties shared by countries across Central Asia and beyond.
The event concluded with all participating artists joining together for a performance of the famous Italian song “Funiculì, Funiculà.” The final performance symbolized peace, harmony and lasting friendship among participating nations and received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Artists and cultural representatives expressed gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for supporting international cultural cooperation and creating opportunities for global artistic exchange. Officials stated that the successful organization of the TURKSOY Opera Days concert further strengthened Turkmenistan’s role as an important cultural and humanitarian center in the region.
