Thailand’s Ministry of Education has ordered urgent renovations and infrastructure improvements at Pinij Ratsabamrung School in Kalasin Province after officials discovered safety and hygiene concerns during a school inspection.
Education Minister Prasert Chantarawongthong visited the school along with senior ministry officials as part of a nationwide review of school readiness ahead of the new academic term. The visit focused on evaluating educational facilities and following up on key education policies.
According to ministry officials, the inspection revealed several damaged school buildings and faulty electrical wiring systems that could pose risks to students, teachers, and staff members. Authorities described the situation as urgent and requiring immediate action.
The minister instructed the Office of the Basic Education Commission to quickly address all critical safety issues, especially problems involving old infrastructure and electrical systems within the school campus.
Officials also identified major concerns regarding the school cafeteria. Reports stated that the current cafeteria is too small and does not meet proper hygiene standards, forcing students to eat in multiple shifts because of limited space.
The Education Ministry has now approved plans to construct a new cafeteria designed to meet modern health, sanitation, and public safety standards. Authorities believe the new facility will improve student well-being and create a healthier learning environment.
Pinij Ratsabamrung School serves as a major primary educational institution in the district with more than 700 students and 45 teachers and staff members. Officials said improving school infrastructure remains an important part of Thailand’s broader education reform efforts.
The ministry also emphasized that school safety, hygiene, and learning quality must develop together to ensure students across Thailand receive safe and supportive educational environments.
