Thailand Plans Internet Boost For Remote Schools

Thailand Plans Internet Boost For Remote Schools

Post by : Shakul

Thailand’s Ministry of Education is preparing to improve internet access and provide computer equipment to remote schools in Chiang Rai Province as part of efforts to reduce educational inequality in mountainous regions.

Deputy Minister of Education Mr. Akranan Kankittinant visited Ban Phalang School along with senior ministry officials to understand the challenges faced by small schools located in remote areas. During the visit, officials also interacted closely with ethnic minority students and participated in Thai language and mathematics teaching activities.

According to ministry officials, one of the major issues identified during the visit was the shortage of basic infrastructure in highland schools, especially access to clean water through mountain water supply systems. Authorities have instructed related agencies to urgently improve the water supply situation to ensure students have continuous access to clean water.

The visit also highlighted major technological limitations faced by schools in remote areas. Many schools reportedly lack stable internet connections and adequate computer equipment, creating barriers to modern education and digital learning opportunities for students.

Mr. Akranan said the Ministry of Education is now preparing plans to accelerate internet installation and computer support in remote educational institutions. The goal is to ensure children living in mountainous regions receive the same educational opportunities as students in urban areas.

Officials believe that improving digital access in remote schools will help students gain better learning opportunities, access online educational resources, and reduce the gap between rural and urban education systems.

The ministry stated that equal access to education remains one of its key priorities and that improving infrastructure in remote schools is essential for enhancing the quality of life and future opportunities for Thai children across the country.
