Justice Minister Briefs Oil Depot Probe Cases

Justice Minister Briefs Oil Depot Probe Cases

Post by : Shakul

Ruttapon Naowarat held a press conference on April 8, 2026, to address the ongoing investigation into irregularities involving oil depot operators across Thailand. The briefing was attended by senior officials from multiple agencies, including the Royal Thai Police, the Department of Special Investigation, and representatives from the Ministries of Energy and Commerce.

The Minister stated that the investigation follows government measures aimed at preventing fuel shortages and ensuring proper distribution of oil nationwide. Authorities have been closely monitoring fuel trading activities from source to destination, with different agencies assigned to oversee various stages of the supply chain. Joint operations were carried out in provinces including Rayong, Pathum Thani, Samut Sakhon, and Khon Kaen.

Preliminary findings revealed several irregular practices. In one case, oil was received from depots but not delivered to gas stations, violating trading regulations. Another case involved a depot continuing operations despite having its license revoked. Authorities also uncovered delays in oil distribution ahead of price increases, as well as instances of false reporting to government agencies.

Officials emphasized that stricter controls are being implemented on oil transport routes, delivery timelines, and stockpiling activities. The government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparency, preventing supply disruptions, and ensuring public confidence through coordinated efforts among all relevant agencies.
