Tamil Star Abhinay Passes Away at 44 After Liver Illness

Tamil Star Abhinay Passes Away at 44 After Liver Illness

Post by : Rameen Ariff

Tamil star Abhinay, celebrated for his iconic role in the 2002 film Thulluvadho Ilamai, unfortunately passed away on November 10 at the young age of 44 after facing complications from liver disease. His prolonged battle with health issues and urgent public pleas for financial support garnered an outpouring of assistance from both fans and fellow actors.

Abhinay's film career began alongside Dhanush in Thulluvadho Ilamai, which served as a pivotal moment for them both. Over a span of two decades, he played roles in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films, accumulating over 15 credits that included movies, commercials, and voice dubbing. He notably provided his voice for Vidyut Jammwal in the acclaimed 2012 Tamil film Thuppakki, featuring Thalapathy Vijay and directed by AR Murugadoss.

In recent years, the actor candidly shared his struggle with liver disease, even posting a heartfelt video where he disclosed that doctors had provided a bleak prognosis of approximately a year and a half to live. As his medical expenses mounted, he reached out to the industry and fans for assistance. Many colleagues, including comedian KPY Bala and his first co-star Dhanush, stepped in with financial help, reflecting the respect he commanded in the industry.

The Nadigar Sangam has taken responsibility for organizing Abhinay's final rites, given that he did not have any immediate family to carry out these ceremonies. His death is being mourned intensely within the Tamil film community and among fans, who remember his significant impact on regional cinema.

Abhinay’s standout performances, especially in Thulluvadho Ilamai, will remain cherished in the hearts of audiences, and his commitment to cinema, even amid personal challenges, serves as a lasting testament to his influence.
