Summer I Turned Pretty Movie Release Postponed Until 2025

Summer I Turned Pretty Movie Release Postponed Until 2025

Post by : Meena Ariff

Fans eagerly anticipating the movie adaptation of The Summer I Turned Pretty will have to wait a bit longer. Following the Season 3 finale, hopes for a surprise Christmas release have been dashed. Creator Jenny Han has made it clear that these hopes are premature.

While the script for the movie is complete, filming has yet to commence. Jenny explained that with the writing phase done, the production is still on hold, making the possibility of a 2025 holiday release unfeasible.

The third season of The Summer I Turned Pretty, which made its debut in July, consumed the team's focus right up to its airing. Thus, they haven't had the opportunity to pivot towards the film production, prioritizing the season’s completion instead.

This upcoming film will pick up where Season 3 left off, delving deeper into the emotional complexities surrounding Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. Jenny has teased that Belly, played by Lola Tung, will encounter pivotal moments in her life, facing new challenges and decisions.

Even with all the excitement, specifics about the film remain scarce—even for the actors. Lola Tung mentioned she hasn’t reviewed the script yet, although she knows a draft exists. Christopher Briney humorously remarked that he’d prefer to avoid the writing process to prevent including anything “silly.”

The movie is making progress, but there’s no rush. Jenny Han is taking the necessary time to develop the next segment at Cousins Beach thoughtfully, ensuring the film captures the essence of what made the series remarkable.
