Sohar Authorities Seize Alcohol, Tobacco Stock

Sohar Authorities Seize Alcohol, Tobacco Stock

Post by : Shakul

Authorities in Sohar have seized a large quantity of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products as part of a crackdown on illegal storage and sale activities.

The operation was carried out by the Compliance and Risk Assessment Department, which identified suspicious activity involving two vehicles and a residential property linked to a citizen.

During the inspection, officials discovered a significant stockpile of alcohol stored for illegal distribution. The seized items included hundreds of bottles along with chewing tobacco products, all found in vehicles and at a residence connected to the suspect.

Authorities confirmed that the operation was part of ongoing monitoring efforts aimed at preventing unauthorized trade and protecting public safety. The seizure of 743 bottles highlights the scale of the illegal activity being addressed.

Following the operation, legal proceedings have been initiated against the individual involved in accordance with Oman’s laws and regulatory framework governing controlled substances. Officials indicated that further investigation into the supply sources may continue.

Authorities also stated that enforcement measures will be strengthened to prevent similar violations in the future and ensure strict compliance with existing regulations.

Officials reiterated their commitment to enforcing the law and urged the public to comply with rules related to restricted goods, emphasizing that such actions are necessary to maintain safety and order.

The crackdown highlights the government’s continued efforts to combat illegal trade activities and ensure community safety across regions in Oman.
