No Gaza Displays Allowed at Singapore Event

No Gaza Displays Allowed at Singapore Event

Post by : Shakul

Singapore authorities have reminded organisers of a public event at Hong Lim Park’s Speakers’ Corner to avoid any displays or discussions related to the Israel-Gaza conflict. The advisory comes ahead of a scheduled gathering, with officials stressing strict compliance with existing regulations.

The reminder was jointly issued by the Singapore Police Force and the National Parks Board. Authorities made it clear that the event must not include any flags, symbols, or coordinated activities linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict.

Officials emphasized that the gathering must remain within its approved scope and should not introduce sensitive geopolitical issues. Any attempt to bring in topics related to the Israel-Hamas conflict would be considered a violation of event conditions.

NParks, which manages Speakers’ Corner, also reiterated that speeches and activities must not touch on matters involving race or religion. Additionally, participation by foreigners is not permitted under the site’s rules.

Hong Lim Park’s Speakers’ Corner is a designated space where Singapore citizens can hold public assemblies without a police permit, provided they follow strict legal and regulatory guidelines. Authorities regularly monitor events to ensure compliance.

Police confirmed that organisers are aware of the conditions attached to the approval and have acknowledged them. However, officials warned that any breach of rules, including prohibited displays or themes, could lead to enforcement action.

Authorities added that strict monitoring will be in place, and any deviation from the guidelines may result in investigations, reinforcing Singapore’s firm stance on maintaining public order and social harmony.
