In a notable response to recent financial allegations, actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding her and her husband, Raj Kundra. She has emphatically denied any entanglement in misconduct, expressing her dismay over how she has been linked to a situation she insists she did not influence.
Shilpa clarified that her engagement with the implicated company was strictly on a non-executive basis. She reiterated that she was not involved in the company’s day-to-day operations, financial strategies, or decision-making processes. Her affiliation was limited to endorsing products for a home shopping network—similar to many public figures—and noted that payments for her endorsements are still pending.
The focal point of this controversy is a ₹60-crore case regarding criminal breach of trust connecting to the now-defunct Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, where both Shilpa and Raj Kundra hold directorial positions. The case, currently under scrutiny by the Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai Police, also features elements of fraud, stemming from a complaint by a businessman who alleges financial losses from an investment arrangement.
In her statement, Shilpa revealed that her family has lent nearly ₹20 crore to the company, funds that remain unpaid. She critiqued both the timing and foundation of the accusations, arguing that their emergence nearly nine years later contradicts established legal norms.
Concerned about the continuous public scrutiny of her name, she shared that such allegations can be emotionally taxing and unfounded. Shilpa emphasized that unverified claims can damage a person's dignity and public image over time, particularly affecting women.
Concluding her remarks with a quote from the Bhagavad Gita, Shilpa highlighted the importance of standing up against injustice. She also mentioned that a petition aimed at quashing the case has already been submitted to the Bombay High Court, expressing her faith in the legal system as she seeks to safeguard her rights and reputation.
