Actor and singer Shehnaaz Gill, who gained fame through Bigg Boss 13, recently reflected on how the tragic loss of her close friend and fellow contestant Sidharth Shukla fundamentally altered her life. During a podcast, she opened up about her emotional evolution, transformation, and the lasting memories of the late actor.
Sidharth Shukla, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 40 from a cardiac arrest in 2021, left a void not just in the hearts of millions of fans but also deeply affected those closest to him, particularly Shehnaaz, with whom he shared a cherished bond that blossomed on Bigg Boss 13.
Shehnaaz shared that Sidharth's death instigated a significant change in her character and perception of life. She confessed, “Sidharth gave me immense maturity. After everything happened, I matured. Otherwise, I would have remained the same carefree person everyone knew from the show — not caring about the world. My outlook shifted dramatically after he left.”
Reflecting on her past, Shehnaaz mentioned how she often views her old videos from Bigg Boss 13 and thinks to herself, “Who was I back then? I was so spontaneous and joyful; life has molded me into someone different.” She emphasizes, “Life has changed me, and so has my brother.”
Her reflections reveal both a profound sense of loss and gratitude for the lessons that Sidharth imparted.
She also recounted how Sidharth significantly influenced her career choice. A poignant memory she shared was how he persuaded her to stay in Mumbai when she wanted to return to Chandigarh after Bigg Boss 13. “I was planning to go back to Chandigarh, but he insisted, ‘You can’t leave.’ He handled everything for me here, guiding me through this unfamiliar city as I focused on self-growth and building my career from the ground up.”
This pivotal decision marked a new chapter in her life and career, leading her to work diligently on establishing her identity in the entertainment industry. She has since appeared in numerous music videos, films, and is now foraying into Punjabi cinema with Ikk Kudi.
The connection between Shehnaaz and Sidharth during Bigg Boss 13 remains one of reality TV's most discussed relationships. While they never publicly acknowledged a romantic relationship, their chemistry captivated fans.
In a prior interview, Shehnaaz admitted her possessiveness over Sidharth, stating, “Looks don’t matter to me, but I felt possessive because he was so handsome. It’s natural to feel insecure and possessive about someone who is that attractive.”
She described Sidharth as deeply supportive and protective, mentioning how his presence provided her with comfort amidst the entertainment industry’s chaos.
Though it’s been over three years since Sidharth's death, Shehnaaz continues to carry his influence with her. Over the years, she has transformed her grief into strength.
From releasing the music video Tu Yaheen Hai, dedicated to Sidharth, to making her Bollywood debut in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Shehnaaz has made significant strides while balancing emotional recovery and professional aspirations.
As for her current mindset, Shehnaaz expressed that she is now more focused and appreciates life more, stating, “I’ve learned to take care of myself, cherish relationships, and embrace the present. Sidharth taught me that real growth comes from inside.”
Shehnaaz Gill’s recent insights emphasize the deep impact that Sidharth Shukla had on her life both personally and professionally. While his untimely passing robbed her of a cherished friend, his spirit continues to guide her journey. As she promotes her new Punjabi film Ikk Kudi, Shehnaaz embodies strength, resilience, and transformation, reflecting the lessons that Sidharth imparted.
