The Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) is set to participate in the 57th Cairo International Book Fair, which will be held from January 21 to February 3, 2026, at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre located in New Cairo. This significant event will see extensive involvement from various government entities along with Arab and international publishing houses.
Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of SIH, emphasized the Institute’s dedication to having a prominent and ongoing presence at the Cairo International Book Fair, recognized as one of the preeminent cultural gatherings in the Middle East, drawing in nearly two million visitors annually.
He noted that SIH’s engagement illustrates its commitment to preserving both tangible and intangible cultural heritage, intertwining heritage with contemporary life, and advocating for it through thorough research, publications, and cultural initiatives. The Institute frequently organizes and is actively involved in heritage exhibits, festivals, and events on both local and global stages.
Dr. Al Musallam pointed out SIH’s substantial contributions aimed at enriching the heritage landscape by backing researchers, fostering heritage education, and bolstering Emirati and Arab libraries with specialized literature, journals, and periodicals.
He also highlighted that the Government of Sharjah prioritizes books, knowledge industries, and a reading culture, reflecting the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
During the fair, SIH’s pavilion will feature over 1,000 publications focused on different facets of cultural heritage, aiming to enhance awareness and sustain heritage knowledge.
Additionally, the Institute will host a cultural program that includes panel discussions on:
The shared cultural heritage of Emiratis and Egyptians
The roles and challenges faced by heritage books
Egyptian heritage represented in SIH’s publications
The future of specialized institutional publishing
The program will also feature heritage reading sessions organized in collaboration with the Book Club, alongside book-signing events for new releases.
