Sharjah Cultural Forum Celebrates Jordanian Talent

Sharjah Cultural Forum Celebrates Jordanian Talent

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Continuing its journey across Arab cities, the Sharjah Cultural Forum remains dedicated to honoring creative minds and intellectuals in their native lands.

Under the patronage of Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the 26th edition of the forum recently took place in Amman, recognizing four prominent Jordanian figures.

Honors were awarded to translator Dr Mohammed Asfour, critic Dr Nayef Al Ajlouni, heritage researcher Dr Ahmad Sharif Al Zoubi, and poet Mariam Al Saifi. This initiative underscores Sharjah's dedication to acknowledging literary contributions that enrich contemporary Arab culture.

The forum’s sixth occasion in Jordan exemplifies the deepening cultural exchange between the UAE and Jordan. The ceremony was hosted at the National Library Department in Amman, attracting a diverse audience of intellectuals, artists, and officials.

Attendees included Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, the Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture, alongside representatives from the Jordanian Ministry of Culture. The event emphasized the strong cultural connections and shared values between the two countries.

In his speech, Al Owais relayed greetings from the Sharjah Ruler and highlighted the forum's pivotal role in promoting creativity and knowledge as keys to human development. He described the gathering as a testament to the effective collaboration between cultural institutions in both nations.

Speaking on behalf of the honorees, Dr Nayef Al Ajlouni expressed his appreciation for the recognition, mentioning that the forum fosters meaningful intellectual and cultural dialogues throughout the Arab region.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of appreciation certificates, signed by the Ruler of Sharjah, recognizing the honorees' intellectual and literary contributions.

An accompanying exhibition showcased publications from the Sharjah Department of Culture, including cultural magazines and literary works, reflecting the emirate's commitment to enriching the Arab cultural landscape.
