Saiyaara Triumphs as Popular Choice at Yellowstone Film Festival 2025

Saiyaara Triumphs as Popular Choice at Yellowstone Film Festival 2025

Post by : Meena Ariff

Saiyaara, a hit romantic film from India, has been awarded the Popular Choice Award at the Yellowstone International Film Festival 2025. This musical drama, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has grossed approximately ₹570 crore globally since its release on July 18. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film was produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF).

Mohit Suri Shares His Journey

Renowned director Mohit Suri, famous for his works like Aashiqui 2 and Kalyug, reflected on this accolade as a significant highlight in his 20-year career. He reminisced about being inspired by Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in his youth, which fueled his ambition to enter filmmaking.

During the award ceremony in Mumbai, Suri expressed his appreciation for YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani, acknowledging his support for the film’s vision. “I wouldn’t have made it here without you, Akshaye,” he stated. Suri also recounted how he presented the script of Saiyaara to YRF chairman Aditya Chopra and Widhani, who instantly approved the project.

YRF Celebrates Saiyaara

The film's title track made history by being the first Hindi song to reach the Billboard Top 10 globally, solidifying its international success. The debut of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda has drawn parallels to the launch of Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai (2000).

YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani commended Suri's expertise, stating, “As the highest-grossing love story ever, this film signifies a moment of pride for us. Mohit has excelled. This award belongs to the entire cast and crew who dedicated themselves to realizing this film.”

With a blend of critical acclaim, phenomenal box office success, and international accolades, Saiyaara remains a significant force in modern Indian cinema, raising the bar for romantic storytelling.
